V. THE VAULTER EGO
A woman gets into a car. She puts the key in the ignition, goes straight into fifth gear and revs up. The engine makes a horrible screeching noise – but doesn’t budge. So she gives it even more gas. Same result, only worse.

DEFINITION: The Vaulter Ego is named after the tendency to try and vault one’s way over obstacles in order to reach a goal A!S!A!P! It harasses you with a belief that time is perpetually running out. This tricks you into bypassing the logic of next-step thinking which is needed for careful management of progress and change.
DISAPPOINTER MODE: misplaced impatience, leaping before looking, demand for instantaneous results.
MOTTO: ‘It’s now or never.’
APPOINTER MODE: drive, urgency, resistance to drift.
